7th Heaven Children's Haven is a community project in Jeffreys Bay, Eastern Cape caring for children who have had to be taken into alternative care by the social services. This safe house has fourteen children presently, and was founded and is run by Nelly Senong the house mother and foster mother, with assistance from volunteers. The children are loved and cared for in a home environment.
Whilst the Haven has been operating for some years, it was in recent years that the Baptist church came alongside to partner the project and has registered 7th Heaven Children's Haven as a Section 21 Company. Being a Section 21 Company ensures that the Haven is administered in a fully accountable and open manner under the processes and procedures of the Companies Act. The Company is also a registered Public Benefit Company with SARS and registered with the NPO.
The Haven presently rents premises, but is fund raising not only for daily expenses but to purchase premises of its own so that it can have security in dedicated premises and cater more adequately for the numbers of children being fostered or taken to the Haven as a place of safety. Room is also needed for the extra tuition requirements required as some of the children have missed some years of schooling, and for art work, counselling and so on.
